The curser blinks in the top left hand corner of the screen at the same rhythm a yellow caution light above a dark desolate street would.
Thoughts cross the mind with no urgency, as if weathered grocery bags tumbling in the night’s wind hoping to leave the darkness and come to rest under that blinking light.
As weathered ideas wait to be acknowledged, like that lone bag in the barren street, the fingers wait for their command to construct passionate personable works of truth and soul.
That is the purpose of blogs, yes? They are the open diaries in the realms of the cyber world for everyone to read and critique.
Determined to attempt the skill of blogging, this alleged writer searches the depths of the soul hoping to find emotional turmoil, that ‘good stuff’ that readers would love to get their eyes on.
This proves difficult.
Feelings are meant to be suppressed and unacknowledged, not dug up and marketed for the world to interpret and judge, at least not in my first blog.
In the midst of digging up stories of my past that will hopefully entertain an immortal audience in cyberspace, I’ve come to make some realizations about how things quickly leave 'what is' to become 'what was.'
These ‘what was’ memories are the moments that built character and strength and occassionally questioned my very existence. These moments often tend to be those caution lights, those beacons directing us through the darkness. They tell us to slow down and pay attention to the signs, or risk the chance of an accident.
As I pull the past out of the darkness and into the light of the present, I compare the ‘what was’ to the ‘what is.’ It is apparent the past has left its scars. However, scars remind us what we’ve endured and teach us to learn from our mistakes. This knowledge gives us all another shot to reach what we seek, even if at the time we do not know.
Hopefully by writing this series of analyzations of my 'what was' moments I will be able to educate myself for the 'what will be' and perhaps allow for you to learn something as well. If not, at least provide you with entertainment.
