New Mexican cuisine vs Tex Mex

Red or Green? For many New Mexican residents this question creates an emotional response. My initial reaction is excitement as this means I'm going to get authentic New Mexican cuisine. I never appreciated the flavors I grew up with until it was no longer readily available. This may seem as if I'm a chile snob, but disappointment often occurs when dining at common Tex-Mex restaurants here in San Antonio. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, but a poor substitute for what I expect.
