Something like that...

This is my second time being in San Antonio and to say the least, it was 100 times better than the first. I was here 3 year ago, had just graduated from basic training and was able to spend the better part of two days with my family. However, having to walk around in blues and winding down from basic training structure made the experience tense.

This time I was able to walk around, take photos and really relax feel the atmosphere of the city. Networking and learning more about my career field at the communicators workshop this year was helpful and gave me a broader view of how far we public affairs people really stretch across the world.

I think the highlight of the trip was seeing General North, the PACAF commander, come into the Alamo with some foreign nationals. I tried to speak with the secret service and was quickly rejected and given no information about the military group.
I asked, “Sir I was wondering what this group is doing here in San Antonio? I got some photos and I was wondering if I could get some info to use in the captions.”

With a smirk on his face “Um, I’m going to need your camera. Just kidding, but honestly this wasn’t really a planned part of the trip.”

I said “Well was this a morale trip for them?”

He crosses his arms and says “Something like that.”

I proceeded to walk away after feeling blown off, but I satisfied with being able to talk to secret services for the first time.
